"GOODNIGHT IRENE" ble skrevet av Huddie Ledbetter i 1949 og var
hit året etter med Gordon Jenkins And The Weavers, da i rolig valsetakt. NJS
prøvde "GOODNIGHT IRENE" til "Close Up", men fikk den aldri helt til - derfor
nytt forsøk til "Turn On To The Music" og da satt den.
I 2013 ble også "Close Up"-versjonen av "GOODNIGHT IRENE" utgitt
på samlingen "Outtakes & Rariteter".
Goodnight
Irene
(Huddie
Ledbetter/John Lomax)
Last
Saturday night I got married
Me
and my wife settled down
Now
me and my wife done parted
Guess
I'll take another stroll downtown
Irene
Goodnight, Irene Goodnight
Goodnight
Irene, Goodnight Irene
I'll
see you in my dreams
Sometimes
I live in the country
Sometimes
I live downtown
Sometimes
I take a great notion
To
jump out in the river and drown
Irene
Goodnight, Irene Goodnight
Goodnight
Irene, Goodnight Irene
I'll
see you in my dreams
Stop
your ramblin', buddy boy
You
better stop your gamblin'
You
better stop your gettin' home that late at night
you
better move on back to your wife and to your family
Settle
down by the fireside so bright
Irene
Goodnight, Irene Goodnight
Goodnight
Irene, Goodnight Irene
I'll
see you in my dreams
